Barossa is one of the best wine regions of the world. But along with that, you have so many tours to choose from. We are very different, the only original Red London Cab in Australia, with real English owners and with a passion to make this the best trip ever for you. GOLD STANDARD CERTIFIED 100% BRITISH.No two trips are the same and as we are owner operators we really do go the extra mile.
The 3 of us arrived here, Skip, Rachel and Roger (the taxi) with a dream that evolved after many years travelling around the world by motorcycle, taking tours in beautiful regions.
This picture was taken in a Chilean wine region, the tour options were limited but inspirational! This locals car subconsciously stayed in the back of our minds when choosing the best vehicle for the job.
We visited the Barossa and fell in love with it. The stars aligned when Skip found Roger for sale and we took the plunge to create the best, fun, quirky and memorable Barossa experience.
We have created some great options that are themed . We can go the whole English experience from Devonshire teas to stout tasting, (not at the same time!) or we can introduce you to private vehicle collections, indulge in all ranges of food and drink or make a full day of retail therapy and bubbles!
Private function hire also available.
We came to the Barossa Valley from The Yorkshire Dales, England, with a 26 year stopover in Cairns, Queensland.
In 2019 we visited the Barossa with a group of friends from Canada and stayed in Greenock.
We loved this area so much we joked with the locals that we would be back, a year later we arrived to live our dream.
Skip, although a qualified mechanic, runs a small handyman business. Rachel is an International Travel consultant but has a history in local and inbound tourism.
So why Barosssa Red Vintage Tours?
It is a culmination of a few dreams. We have been fortunate to travel the world by motorbike and as we dreamed of our own tour business we just needed the vehicle and the right location. As luck would have it we found both.We both loved the country, history, food and wine that the region offered and (after living for 8 years in London) we always hoped to own a London cab.By chance during the move south we found found this beautiful vehicle for sale..the rest, they say, is history.
BAROSSA RED VINTAGE TOURS originally was going to operate a set tour around the Barossa region but we thought we would offer a little more.
We assume that every one loves a wine or two,but for some its just not their cup of tea!
Therefore, we can offer a set tour or we can arrange for you to visit other venues for tastings. There are "foody" options and plenty of scenic and historical sites too.
We can create the perfect trip for an hour at sunset to a full day .
The tours all begin either from a central Barossa location or directly from your accommodation.
The Cab, (known for it's distinctive "burble") is an original 1972 Austin FX4 diesel automatic, and is air conditioned and heated also sound proofed throughout for your comfort, BUT it is not a luxury high-end vehicle. This is no Ferrari and we offer a meandering, leisurely paced trip through the beautiful valleys.
We can take up to 5 comfortably in the back and one extra person in the front.
We also offer an hourly rate for special occasions, Proms, Weddings, special occasions. Its certainly a way to create an entrance!
We want this time in The Barossa to be truly fun, interesting and memorable and we intend to go the extra mile on every tour or hire.
When joining us, we want you to be completely happy with the experience. If you have questions about us, our services, or even travel tips or suggestions, get in touch!
We are a fully accredited chauffeur business. We have full licences and all insurances in place.
In case of unforeseen circumstances (re an old vehicle) be assured that we will compensate you.
We are double vaccinated and Covid aware and compliant. We offer masks and sanitizer on all trips.
Due to the very leisurely speed we travel we are based solely in The Barossa.
I'm the most important part of the team. I am a 1972 Austin FX4 London Cab.
My history pre-Australia is a little vague but arrived into Australia in the 1970's where I started out as a black wedding hire car in the Victorian wine lands. In 1981 Richard Branson bought me and I was transferred to Sydney for the launch of the Virgin Airways US flight campaign
I was registered in New South Wales as FLY US. I was then painted red and had a Union Jack decal roof for a short time.
An Orthodontist in NSW then used me for his own personal use.
Skip has fixed up my big end, my heating and cooling and has sorted out the miles of wiring running through my body. After having my first run from Hahndorf to Greenock,an interior makeover was executed and here I am, even more beautiful!
I have had several modifications, but don't be fooled . I am still a 1972 diesel and go as slow as any 1930's vehicle! but this tour leaves you more time to soak in the stunning Barossa scenery.
Hi, Yes I am the red headed one.(The other Red Vintage!)
I left the wilds of The Yorkshire Dales with my wife Rachel in 1994 to pursue a life less ordinary and this is where we ended up. We came to indulge in fresh air, beautiful scenery and the delicious Barossa wines.
Never in a million years would all the stars align to place my dreams together. The community is amazing and we just want to share this little place of paradise.
We have ridden around most of the world on a motorbike and spent many days wishing we could share our best moments with others. Now we can share our own best of the Barossa with you, your family and friends.
As well as being your host for the day I am also the owner, operator, driver, guide and restorer
The crew composes of secretary, accountant, adviser, logistics, buyer, marketer and general fixer upper.
Rachel has worked in tourism all her life, originally as a chef and then directly in tourism.Rachel a dedicated travel nerd, lives to hear new stories, tell tales about her trips and make the world a happier and more traveled space. She believes in exceeding all expectations and so with this new business wants to create the best.
